I do NOT like Cyclone Yasi one bit. I wish it wasn’t getting ready to pound on this beautiful beach town. Good luck Far North Queenslanders.
I had all sorts of ideas for Keira before arriving, but the rain prevented us from doing what I really wanted to do. So we improvised with these images. Quite happy with improvising!
Queensland, Australia ~ Where we’ve held the past 2 Zoe Fests is seriously flooded. It’s massive flooding. People need help. http://www.qld.gov.au/floods/donate.html Click here to donate a few dollars to help Aussies who have lost everything. Please. They are so friendly and nice there. Plus, look at all these beautiful photos on this website that Mission Beach gave all of us. Please help the Aussies!!!
3. What type of Polaroid do you want to work with? 665? Ok, great.
4. Let’s do something different this time… with that palm leaf!
5. and yeah, bring that mirror with you for good measure. sure, we can shoot in your secret spot, though it pains me to do so.
6. sand won’t kill you. and yes, you can pay me back.
7. picture love.
That’s about how it went down. Minus hilarious commentary in between it all. I’ll let you all fill in the gaps.
That’s all we could say for the longest time after this shoot. Bananas! Bananas! Bananas!
It wouldn’t stop raining. Little did I know that Tully Gorge was the rainiest area in all of Australia. We made do with the umbrella though, so that’s alright. 😉
On the way into the rainforest we stopped for shoppits and dockets at the local gas station. I still don’t understand that.
Malcolm Grant’s Winning Slide Show
Every year we have slide show nights and last year we started giving away little prizes for the most entertaining slide shows. One’s that keep your attention, move at a welcoming pace and use imagination in producing something to showcase their images. Malcolm Grant won the photographer side of things. He won a copy of Aperture 3.
Here’s one of the images he shot this year at Mission Beach during ZoeFest 2010.
Carlotta wanted me to shoot her face down in the pool, like a dead girl. She thought it would be \ii/, so I agreed. We got some pretty things too. 🙂 I loved this shoot and love working with Carly!
My Mission Beach Slide Show
Every year I normally put together a slide show to showcase my photography. But I decided to show my modeling work this year. Enjoy.
Some work with Rei
I love working with Rei. I wish I could do it more often. I wish they all could be California models.

In the land down under, it takes a lot to disturb others. They generally pass by with a curious look and go on their way without much fanfare. I asked parents with children if they cared before we did this and the response was, “Well, I reckon that’d be alright.” And the look was astoundingly that of “Why ask? Just do it.” So I was able to do something that would have gotten us all arrested in the United States and had a blast doing it. One lady even stopped to applaud us. Oh, just to be back there.
